Preparing Your New Apartment Complex for Success & Happy Tenants

Zack Graham

If you have recently purchased or become the manager of an apartment complex, or the one you currently have isn't up to par, then you'll want to make some changes so you can transform it into a nicer place for your renters. Follow the tips here to turn your apartment complex into a very desirable one.

Have the grounds professionally landscaped

Along with having a regular gardener who comes out and mows the lawn and trims the hedges, you should also hire the services of a professional landscaper who will make sure the complex has a look to it that's been designed to draw people in and make the feel comfortable. They will be able to add special touches to increase its aesthetics such as a waterfall and pond or flower lined walkways.

Make sure the parking area is nice

A parking lot should be taken care of and maintained in a way that provides tenants with a safe place to park their cars and walk through. Make sure the asphalt is sealed and that any and all potholes are repaired. This way it will not only look good, but you won't have to worry about tenants or visitors falling and getting hurt. The individual parking stalls should have a fresh coat of paint once the paint starts to fade. Not only will this help the parking lot look better but will also help to avoid little parking accidents.

Have a fence installed around the complex

You want to make sure you do everything possible to prevent vandalism and other criminal activities and trouble from taking place on the property. You should think about having a fence installed all the way around the grounds to keep people from just wandering onto the property from the street. The fence should have automatic gates at all entrances that allow those that live there and their visitors to enter with a code or with the phone that's available for them to buzz a tenant.

Hire an unarmed security service

You also want to be sure you keep your tenants secure and make sure they feel good when they lock their doors at night. Hiring an unarmed security service to watch over the grounds at night is a fantastic way for you to make sure you are doing all you can to provide a complex that's as free of crime and other issues as possible.
